Description

This Garador lock body comes with a lock cylinder and is suitable for modern Garador garage doors manufactured from 2002 onwards. There are five available variants for this lock type, which correspond to the different door styles produced for Garador garage doors. These are defined below so you can find out if this is what you need.

This lock assembly is supplied with keys.

What do the different lock numbers mean?

First of all, you should check what your current lock is. The number should be engraved in one of the ‘arms’ of the lock body. It is possible that the number has worn, especially on older garage doors. If this is the case then you can also measure the length of the lock cylinder.

You can also match it up to the style of your garage door. If you know the name of your door pattern – usually written on the label of the inside of the garage door – you can identify your lock number from this.

How can I install this Garador lock?

The process is quite simple. All you will need is a screwdriver as far as tools are concerned. Firstly, you would need to remove the door handle by unscrewing the screw from the end of the spindle, which will allow the internal handle and external handle to be removed. Afterwards, you will need to unscrew the locking bars holding the lock in place. Then you will need to remove the lock body and attach the new one to your door, repeating the previous steps in reverse.

What handles are compatible with this lock?

The Garador standard black plastic handle is most commonly seen on doors with this lock body. For a more durable alternative, there is a diecast metal handle available.

Fitting Instructions

Lock Assembly - Removal Instructions

These instructions are intended to aid removal and replacement of all current lock assemblies for Canopy and Retractable doors.

1. Locate the interior lock assembly

2. Remove lock cylinder retention screw

3. Locate the lock cylinder on the exterior face of the door.

Using a 4.5 - 5.0mm diamond tip drill bit, drill through the bottom of the key profile within the cylinder to release cylinder lock pins.

5. Remove the cylinder from the lock assembly.

6. Dependant on the door type, lock assembly must be removed in the following ways:

6.1 On the top face of the lock assembly will be a stainless steel plate which is connecting the lock assembly to a steel lug on the door. Lower the lock assembly towards the floor to release the assembly from the door.

6.2 Behind the lock assembly will be a plate between the bottom face of the door and the first horizontal brace. This plate has four clips (two on each side of the assembly) which are holding the lock assembly to the door. Using pliers or screwdriver, release the clips and remove the lock assembly from the door.

6.3 Remove the screw holding the front base plate for the door handle, and then follow either set of instructions as detailed in 6.1 and 6.2.

Once the lock assembly has been removed, replace with the new identical lock assembly and follow these instructions in reverse (Do not drill out the centre of new lock cylinder).
